A local business received a phone call yesterday that was suspicious. The caller identified themselves as an employee from one of our local banking institutions. They told the business owner they were late on a loan payment and that the only way to make the payment was by credit card. (None of this information is true). The business owner called the banking institution verifying that they did not make the call.
If you get a phone call where the caller is demanding (or asking) that you make a payment over the phone with your credit card, do not give them information and contact your banking institution directly. You should always be the one initiating a phone call where you are giving personal or confidential information over the phone.
