Los Angeles Police Arrest Suspect in Chinatown Store Clerk Assault

A man has been apprehended in connection with a violent robbery that occurred in Chinatown, where he allegedly assaulted a store clerk. This disturbing incident, captured on surveillance footage, unfolded at Angies Boutique on North Broadway on September 14.

The video reveals the suspect forcefully pushing the woman to the ground as he reached over the counter. In her attempt to prevent the theft of two art pieces, a brief physical struggle ensued, during which she was struck in the face.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported the arrest of Thornton Courtland in Hawthorne on Friday, linking him to this robbery. Authorities are also exploring potential connections between Courtland and other recent robberies. Courtland is currently being held on $80,000 bail.

Fortunately, the store clerk who endured the assault has since recovered from her injuries.
