LOCATION: W. Wilson Ave. / S. Helena St. – City of Ridgecrest
SUSPECT: Richard McQuade – 44 year old Trona Resident
On 05/14/202, at approximately 6:10PM, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of W. Wilson Ave. and S. Helena St. regarding a single vehicle (motorcycle) accident. Upon arrival, two riders were located near the crashed motorcycle. One of the riders (passenger) appeared to have been ejected from the motorcycle and sustained significant injuries. Officers began administering aid to the injured passenger until Kern County Fire Department and Liberty Ambulance arrived on-scene. The passenger was transported to the Ridgecrest Regional Hospital via Liberty Ambulance and then transported via air ambulance to another hospital.
McQuade was evaluated at the scene and determined to be driving under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident. He was placed under arrest for DUI/DUI causing GBI. During a search incident to arrest, McQuade was found to be in possession of a loaded “Ghost Gun” which he is prohibited from possessing, as he is a convicted felon. He was also found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and controlled substance paraphernalia.
McQuade was transported to Ridgecrest Regional Hospital and medically cleared for the injuries he sustained in the crash. He was arrested and booked for the listed charges and later transported to the Central Receiving Facility (CRF) in Bakersfield, CA.
