Unbelievable: Why the U.S. Has One of the Worst Murder Rates!

According to FBI records, there were 14,742 murders in the United States in 2019. Since 1991, when there were 9.8 murders per 100,000 people, which was the highest rate ever recorded, the number of murders committed each year has been going down.

But, even though the number of murders has been going down steadily since then, the U.S. is still one of the worst countries in the developed world when it comes to murder rates. This is mostly because gun crime is worse in the U.S. than in most other industrialized countries.

Poverty, unemployment, and gang action are some other things that can lead to a rise in violent crime. In 2019, Louisiana, which has the highest murder rate in the U.S. at 22.9 per 100,000 people, and Missouri, which has the second highest murder rate at 18 per 100,000 people, were the states with the most murders.

New Hampshire, on the other hand, had only 1.5 murders per 100,000 people. This made it one of the states with the fewest murders in 2019.

The number of murders in the US is much higher than in other industrialized countries. Even more extreme is the difference between states. For example, Louisiana’s murder rate is 22.9 per 100,000, which is more than four times the national average.

This scary trend has many reasons, such as poverty, easy access to guns and other weapons, and gang violence, which tends to be different from state to state and city to city.

For example, Louisiana has one of the highest rates of gun ownership in the country and a lot of poor people, which could help explain why its murder rate is so much higher than in other states.

Also, places with a lot of gang activity often have a lot of murders, no matter how rich or poor the people are or if they have access to guns or not. This is because rival groups often have turf wars and fight back with violence.
