Tragic Fatal Accident in Bakersfield: One Dead, Two Hospitalized

Bakersfield, Calif. — A fatal accident occurred in southwest Bakersfield, resulting in one person’s death and two others being hospitalized.

The Bakersfield Police Department received a call about the crash at the intersection of Panama Lane and Akers Road at 3:15 AM on June 25th.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered a seriously injured adult male driver, who later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, an adult female, and her male passenger sustained moderate injuries and were transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

Preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation indicate that the woman was driving south on Akers Road when her vehicle collided with the other car, which was also traveling south.

Subsequently, her car lost control and struck a tree. It is suspected that excessive speed and alcohol played a role in the incident.

For a brief period, Akers Road was closed between Panama Lane and Cyclone Drive. The Bakersfield Police Department urges anyone with information regarding the accident to contact them at (661) 327-7111.
