19-Year-Old Bakersfield Resident Dies in Highway 58 Rollover Crash

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. —  According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a man has passed away following a single-vehicle rollover accident on Highway 58.

The CHP reported that Ethan Nicholas Torres, a 19-year-old from Bakersfield, was driving his 2014 Jeep westbound on Highway 58, near Bena Road, when the vehicle veered off the road and went down a slope on the north side of the highway.

The incident occurred on Saturday, June 10, shortly before 6 a.m.

As a result of the crash, Torres’ Jeep flipped over but landed upright on a dirt road before coming to a halt.

Unfortunately, Torres was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, as confirmed by the CHP.

The authorities suspect that alcohol and drugs may have been involved in the accident. Additionally, it was reported that the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

The incident is currently under investigation.
