19-year-old suspect arrested after pursuit crash in L.A.
A burglary suspect was arrested after leading police on a pursuit in Central Los Angeles.
Los Angeles police identified the suspect as Kwentin Monk, 19.
On Feb. 20, officers with LAPD’s Gang Enforcement Detail were assisting a burglary task force when they became involved in a pursuit of a possible burglary suspect.
The suspect, Monk, continued speeding away and eventually drove to a Hancock Park neighborhood near Oakwood Avenue and June Street before entering a cul-de-sac.
As officers approached him, Monk turned his vehicle around and suddenly accelerated toward them, before officers opened fire on his vehicle.
Monk continued speeding away and later crashed into another car at the intersection of Beverly Boulevard and Wilton Avenue in Larchmont.
Monk decided to ditch his car and began fleeing the area on foot but was quickly apprehended by police.
The victim who Monk crashed into was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Monk was not struck by gunfire during the shooting and no officers were injured during the pursuit.
He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer. No further details were released as the case remains under investigation.
