On Tuesday, June 13, Ronald Dean Pierce, Jr. received sentencing for his involvement in a fatal DUI crash, where he was convicted of second-degree murder.
He was sentenced to more than 19 years in prison, taking into account the charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and other DUI-related offenses.
The tragic incident occurred on November 24, 2019, on Old River Road, between White Lane and Ming Avenue.
Pierce was engaged in a street race with another defendant, Israel Maldonado when he collided with the rear of an innocent vehicle.
This caused the vehicle to be propelled into oncoming traffic, resulting in a collision with another vehicle.
Tragically, the driver of the innocent vehicle lost their life, while two passengers sustained injuries.
Maldonado, on the other hand, was found guilty of vehicular manslaughter due to gross negligence and reckless driving.
