SAN DIEGO – A 17-year-old young man has been taken into custody in relation to the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old individual in the Mira Mesa Neighborhood of San Diego.
On Friday, at 10:01 p.m., the San Diego Police Department received a report of a stabbing at Mira Mesa Park located at 8350 Gold Coast Drive.
Upon the arrival of officers from the Northeastern Division and paramedics from San Diego Fire-Rescue, they discovered the victim with a stab wound to his chest.
Emergency medical personnel rushed the man to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward. The victim’s identity is known but is being withheld until his family is informed.
San Diego Homicide Detectives were summoned to the scene and are presently conducting an investigation into the matter.
As the investigation is still in its early stages, there is limited information available concerning the circumstances leading to the victim’s demise.
Detectives ascertained that a group of transient men were present at the park when a dispute erupted between the perpetrator and the victim.
Authorities stated that the assailant initially fled the scene but later returned to the park, where he was apprehended by officers.
He has since been arrested and placed in San Diego Juvenile Hall. Due to the suspect’s status as a minor, additional details regarding the suspect will not be disclosed.
The Homicide Detectives are presently processing the scene to collect physical evidence and are attempting to locate surveillance footage as well as any potential witnesses to the incident.
