A neighbor told KTLA’s John Fenoglio that three people reportedly lived in the home — the 7-year-old girl, along with a man and a woman.

The neighbor said the man reportedly found the girl’s lifeless body when he arrived home and began screaming for help. Police have not confirmed whether that man is the girl’s parent or guardian.

The girl’s mother was found suffering from injuries that appeared to be lacerations, according to the neighbor.

The woman was taken into custody. A video of the scene showed her being wheeled out of the apartment in a wheelchair with her wrists restrained to the chair’s handles.

The circumstances surrounding the girl’s death remain unclear. No further details, including her identity, were released as a homicide investigation is underway.
