A 43-year-old man, Michael Goodman, was arrested by Chicago police for allegedly shooting and killing a 9-year-old girl in the Portage Park neighborhood on Saturday night.
The victim, Serabi Medina, tragically lost her life in the incident. Goodman has been charged with first-degree murder, as stated by the police.
According to reports from local ABC News station WLS, Goodman, who resides on the same block where the shooting took place, was upset about noise.
He had a confrontation with Serabi Medina and her father before allegedly shooting the young girl in the head.
Immediately after the incident, at around 9:20 p.m. local time on Saturday, he was apprehended by the authorities.
The police statement mentioned that during the arrest, Goodman sustained a gunshot wound, and he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Additionally, a weapon was recovered at the scene of the crime.
Goodman is set to appear in court for a bond hearing on Tuesday to address the charges against him.
