Wyoming High Wind Warning: Gusts Up to 80 MPH Expected Through Tuesday

Cheyenne, WY – A prolonged period of dangerous winds is set to impact southeastern Wyoming, with gusts reaching up to 80 mph in some areas through late Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, a High Wind Warning remains in effect for multiple regions, including the Bordeaux area along Interstate 25, Arlington and Elk Mountain along Interstate 80, and the South Laramie Range. Winds of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph tonight, will strengthen to 75-80 mph by Sunday afternoon.

The strong crosswinds will create hazardous driving conditions, particularly for lightweight and high-profile vehicles such as campers and semi-trucks. Blowing snow could lead to reduced visibility, slick roads, and even whiteout conditions in some areas.

The most dangerous period for high winds is expected between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, with another surge Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Motorists are advised to use extreme caution, secure loose objects, and avoid travel if possible. Residents should prepare for potential power outages due to the extended duration of strong winds.
