Eureka, CA – A Flood Watch is in effect for parts of Northern California as heavy rainfall increases the risk of flooding, rockslides, and landslides through Sunday. Areas affected include Northern Humboldt Interior, Coastal Del Norte, and Del Norte Interior.
According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, up to 4 inches of rain is expected in Humboldt County, while Del Norte County could see between 3 and 6 inches by Sunday evening. Excessive runoff may cause rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas to flood, with urban flooding also possible.
Officials warn of an increased risk of rockslides along roadways, particularly in steep terrain. Residents in flood-prone areas are advised to monitor forecasts and prepare for potential evacuation if conditions worsen.
The Flood Watch remains in effect until Sunday morning for Humboldt County and until Sunday evening for Del Norte County. Travelers should exercise caution on roadways and avoid driving through flooded areas.
