Jacksonville, FL – Drivers across northeast Florida and southeast Georgia are urged to use caution Sunday morning as dense fog reduces visibility on major roadways.

According to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, widespread fog has developed overnight, with some areas experiencing visibility of less than one mile. The fog is expected to linger through sunrise before gradually dissipating later in the morning.

Cities affected include Jacksonville, Gainesville, St. Augustine, and Palm Coast in Florida, as well as Waycross, Brunswick, and Jesup in Georgia. Motorists are advised to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles while traveling in foggy conditions.

The dense fog could impact travel on major highways such as I-95, I-10, and US-1, particularly in low-lying areas. Commuters and early morning travelers should check for updated weather alerts and allow extra travel time.

The National Weather Service advises that conditions should improve by late morning as temperatures rise and fog lifts. Drivers are encouraged to remain vigilant until visibility improves.
