Medford, OR – A cold front moving through Oregon’s High Cascades on Monday night is expected to bring significant snowfall, with some areas potentially receiving more than six inches. The storm is set to impact travel conditions in higher elevations, including Diamond Lake Junction, Willamette Pass, and Crater Lake.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Medford, the cold front will arrive late Monday, bringing moisture and colder temperatures that could lead to heavy snowfall, especially above 5,000 feet. Forecast models indicate a 50% chance of more than six inches accumulating by Tuesday morning.

Travelers in the affected regions should prepare for reduced visibility and slick road conditions. The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) advises motorists to carry chains and check road conditions before traveling through mountain passes. Minor impacts are expected at lower elevations, but higher terrain areas could see difficult driving conditions.

This snowfall event comes as a reminder of the unpredictability of late-winter weather in Oregon’s mountains. Those planning to visit Crater Lake or other high-altitude areas early in the week should prepare for winter conditions and monitor NWS updates for any changes in the forecast.
