Mammoth Mountain ski patroller caught in Feb. 14 avalanche dies

(FOX40.COM) — One of two Mammoth Mountain ski patrollers injured in an avalanche earlier this month has died from her injuries, Mammoth Resorts said.

According to the ski resort, on Feb. 14 two ski patrollers performing avalanche mitigation work were caught in an avalanche on Lincoln Mountain.

Mammoth Resorts said the area the avalanche occurred in, known as the Avy Chutes, had recently received about 6 feet of snow in the span of about 36 hours.

According to the ski resort, Claire Murphy was located with serious injuries and taken to Mammoth Hospital before being flown to another medical facility for further treatment.

The other patroller was recovered uninjured.
