Bronx, New York — A 73-year-old Bronx man has been charged with murder after allegedly attacking and killing his longtime partner during a violent domestic incident inside their apartment Monday morning, police confirmed.
Jeffrey Kolin, 73, is accused of striking 77-year-old Marsha Greenberg in the head with a kitchen pot and then smothering her with a pillow at their home on Barnes Avenue, according to law enforcement sources.
Suspect Called 911 After the Attack
Authorities say Kolin himself called 911 shortly before 7:30 a.m., reportedly confessing to the attack. When NYPD officers arrived at the scene, they found Greenberg unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from head trauma.
She was rushed to Jacobi Hospital by emergency responders but was pronounced dead on arrival.
A History of Domestic Trouble
According to law enforcement officials, Kolin and Greenberg had been in a tumultuous relationship for more than 20 years, marked by a long history of domestic violence reports dating back to 2005.
The most recent domestic incident report was filed just two weeks earlier, on June 25, suggesting escalating tensions between the couple.
Charges Filed Against Kolin
Kolin has been formally charged with multiple felonies, including:
- Murder
- Manslaughter
- Two counts of strangulation
- Criminal possession of a weapon
He is currently in NYPD custody as the investigation continues.
