‘Years of blood, sweat and sacrifice wiped out in minutes’: L.A. business severely damaged in smash-and-grab

Thieves drove a van through the front of a store in South Los Angeles and robbed it early Monday morning, and to make matters worse, this isn’t the first time the business has been hit.

The store’s owner told KTLA that his check cashing business located in the 2100 block of San Pedro Street was “completely destroyed” in the wake of the incident, and the physical damage is just the beginning.

“This business supports three different families, and with this incident, all three are now in limbo,” the store owner said.

It was not clear what exactly was taken from the business.

Compounding the issue is the fact that the owner’s insurance was canceled earlier this year, so all repair costs are either coming out of his own pocket – or from kind members of the public.

“The damage is overwhelming,” a GoFundMe set up to help alleviate repair costs for the family business reads. “Years of blood, sweat and sacrifice were wiped out in minutes.”
