Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe Wastes No Time, Signs Six Executive Orders After Inauguration

WPBN: After taking office, Governor Mike Kehoe of Missouri did not spend any time in his first day of work.

One of the most important aspects of Kehoe’s campaign was the reduction of crime, and as his first formal act in office, he signed six executive orders targeted toward that end.

“Too many Missourians don’t feel safe–and too many Missourians aren’t safe,” Kehoe stated. “My administration will be relentless in our pursuit to make Missouri a place where it’s easier to be a cop than a criminal.”

As a result of these executive orders,

  • Develop a new regional operation with the purpose of apprehending known criminals.
  • Ensure that local law enforcement receives money from the state.
  • To aid the federal government in its search for unauthorized immigrants, certain officers will be trained.
  • Those who have been charged with crimes should have their immigration data collected.
  • Lessen the amount of time needed to obtain the highest possible wage with the Missouri State Highway Patrol
  • Develop a task force with the objective of lowering the rate of criminal recurrence.

During the signing, the governor was joined by a number of police enforcement officers, as well as Attorney General Andrew Bailey.

“I applaud Governor Kehoe for taking action less than an hour after being sworn into office,” Bailey stated. “Today is a bold move toward restoring law and order, backing Missouri law enforcement as they protect our families, and reaffirming our commitment to obtaining justice for victims.”

Additionally, today, Governor Kehoe took administrative action to establish a designated staff member in his office who will serve as the point of contact for law enforcement agencies and concerns.

He stated that the link between the governor’s office and law enforcement agencies will be strengthened through the use of liasion, which will provide for improved communication.

The step that Kehoe took today is only the beginning of his plan to reduce crime, according to Kehoe. During his first State of the State address, which is scheduled to take place later in January, he is anticipated to discuss his efforts to collaborate with legislators.
