Extreme Cold Alert: Wind Chill Advisory Hits Wisconsin Saturday Through Monday

Green Bay, WI – A cold weather advisory is in effect for Wisconsin this weekend, with life-threatening wind chills as low as 35 below zero expected.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory begins Saturday at 9 p.m. and extends through Monday at 9 p.m. The affected areas include central, north-central, east-central, and northeast Wisconsin. Wind chills between 20 and 30 below zero will be common, with the coldest conditions expected overnight.

Officials warn that frostbite can occur on exposed skin within 10 minutes under these conditions. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activities, wear layers, and use proper heating equipment safely. Pets should remain indoors, and outdoor animals need access to warm, dry shelter, food, and water.

Travelers are advised to check conditions before heading out and dress appropriately for the severe cold. Check on older adults and vulnerable neighbors to ensure their safety.
