Montana – A warmer yet active weather pattern will impact Montana this week, with light snow and gusty winds expected to hit Billings Tuesday night into Wednesday. Colder air and accumulating snow are likely to return Friday through Saturday, prompting early preparations for hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Billings, 1 to 4 inches of snow is forecast east of Billings beginning Tuesday evening. Blowing snow, combined with wind gusts reaching up to 45 mph, may create difficult travel conditions, particularly along I-90 and surrounding roadways. Residents should plan for reduced visibility and slippery roads Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.

Later in the week, another weather system is projected to bring colder temperatures and widespread snowfall to the region. Accumulating snow is expected Friday evening into Saturday, although specific totals remain uncertain. Drivers are advised to monitor updates as the storm approaches.

Temperatures across the area will hover near seasonal highs Tuesday and Wednesday, ranging from the mid-20s to low 30s. However, the return of cold air will bring lows back into the teens by Friday night.

Residents should secure outdoor items vulnerable to strong winds and check road conditions before traveling. Emergency supplies, such as blankets and flashlights, are recommended for those driving during snow events. For updates, visit the National Weather Service at weather.gov/billings.
