Pittsburgh, PA – Frigid temperatures and scattered snow showers will continue across Pittsburgh today, with wind chills as low as -20 degrees. A cold weather advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. Wednesday, covering much of western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia.

According to the National Weather Service, snow showers this afternoon could leave a light trace, potentially impacting commutes along major roads like I-376 and U.S. Route 22. Residents are urged to dress warmly, as exposed skin can experience frostbite in under 30 minutes.

Tonight, skies will clear, but temperatures will drop to -8 degrees. Wind chills will continue to hover in the dangerous range, with southwest winds at 5 to 9 mph contributing to the bitter cold.

Looking ahead, Wednesday will bring mostly cloudy skies and a high near 14 degrees. By Thursday, temperatures will climb slightly, reaching the high 20s under partly sunny skies. The warming trend continues Friday, with a forecasted high of 25 degrees and a return to mostly clear conditions.

Residents are advised to limit time outdoors during these dangerously cold conditions and ensure pets are brought inside. Stay informed about road conditions and delays caused by icy patches and light snow accumulation.

This period of extended cold comes amid a 20-day streak of recorded snowfall in Pittsburgh, tying for the fifth longest on record since 1871. A light snow event today could bring the streak closer to breaking a top-three record.
