Tiger Woods’ golf tournament moves from L.A. to San Diego due to fires
Tiger Woods’ PGA golf tournament is moving from the Los Angeles area to San Diego as a result of the fires ravaging Southern California.
This year, the Genesis Open — traditionally played at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades — will instead head to the famed Torrey Pines Golf Course, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Rivera was not damaged by the Palisades Fire or anther blaze, but much of the nearby area was scorched.
Torrey Pines, in contrast, is hosting the Farmer’s Insurance Open this week on its North and South courses.
“The Genesis Invitational is scheduled to utilize the South Course, and much of the required infrastructure is already in place,” the Times explained.
“We are grateful to the city of San Diego and Torrey Pines for hosting the 2025 Genesis Invitational, and to everyone who has reached out in support of the tournament,” Woods said in a statement. “While Riviera remains the home of The Genesis Invitational, we look forward to playing on another championship caliber golf course this year and using the tournament to support those affected by the fires in the Los Angeles area.”
The PGA Tour confirmed that the tournament is expected to come back to Riviera Country Club in 2026.
