Injured bobcats turning up at wildlife center after Eaton Fire

Pasadena Humane reported a growing number of bobcats are being brought to its wildlife center following the 14,000-acre Eaton Fire.

One of the most recent is a female bobcat found with burns on all four paws, Pasadena Humane posted on Instagram Sunday.

The big cat was spotted in Sierra Madre by a concerned bystander who reached out after noticing that it was not moving.

“When our Animal Control Officer arrived on the scene, they observed that the bobcat wasn’t attempting to flee, signaling that something was seriously wrong,” the post read.

The bobcat, which was “very thin, dehydrated, and probably hadn’t eaten for several days,” was transported to Pasadena Humane for medical attention.

It was sedated while the veterinary team took X-rays and bandaged its paws. “We are happy to report that she has begun eating, which is a good sign,” the post read.

Officials were hopeful the bobcat would make a full recovery.

Pasadena Humane said it’s not just seeing bobcats directly injured by the fire.

“Some (like the bobcat we posted about a week ago that was struck by a vehicle) may not have any visible burns, but were no less impacted by the blaze as it destroyed their habitat and pushed them into heavily populated areas with people and cars,” the shelter stated.
