McDonald’s brings back iconic character to kick off Shamrock Shake season
McDonald’s is bringing back another McDonaldland character for the first time in decades to kick off the return of Shamrock Shake season.
The company announced Tuesday that Grimace will reunite with his Irish uncle, Uncle O’Grimacey, after stumbling upon his family’s original recipe for the shake.
McDonald’s created the character in 1975 to promote the Shamrock Shake, but he hasn’t seen since the mid-1980s.

Uncle O’Grimacey will travel coast-to-coast, spreading “spreading Shamrock cheer with fans everywhere and celebrating Ronald McDonald House Charities and their mission to keep families.” McDonald’s also said it will donate $0.25 to RMHC for every Shamrock Shake purchased from Feb.10 to March 23.
Fans can also get limited-edition Uncle O’Grimacey merch during a pre-sale beginning on Feb. 4.
The Shamrock Shake will return to participating restaurants nationwide for a limited time beginning on Feb.10.
