Pittsburgh, PA – Freezing rain is making roads dangerously slick across northwest and western Pennsylvania this morning, with a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 10 AM EST. Travelers should prepare for hazardous driving conditions as ice continues to accumulate.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, an additional one-tenth of an inch of ice is expected in areas including Butler, Clarion, Indiana, Oil City, and Sharon. The icy conditions are likely to disrupt the morning commute, making bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads especially treacherous.

Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and use extreme caution. As temperatures rise later in the morning, conditions should gradually improve.

Residents can report snow or ice accumulations by calling 412-262-1988, posting on the NWS Pittsburgh Facebook page, or using Twitter @NWSPittsburgh. For real-time road updates, check PennDOT’s 511 system.
