Southern California therapist arrested for allegedly having sex with minor

A Southern California therapist was arrested for allegedly having sex with a minor.

The suspect was identified as Matthew Martinez, 25, of Covina, according to the Covina Police Department.

Martinez worked as a behavioral therapist for Foothill Family between 2023 and January 2025. According to its website, the company offers services for mental health, domestic violence, youth and family, child abuse services, older adults, and more.

Authorities confirmed Martinez is no longer employed by Foothill Family.

On Feb. 5, he was arrested for alleged unlawful sexual acts with a minor. He is being held without bail at the Covina Police Department Jail pending his arraignment.

Detectives did not reveal details on the alleged incidents or the victim involved. However, police believe there may be additional victims who have yet to come forward.
