Baltimore, MD – A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of Maryland and northern Virginia from noon to midnight Saturday. The storm will bring snow, sleet, and ice, creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will start as snow before transitioning to sleet and freezing rain Saturday afternoon. Snow and sleet could accumulate up to one inch, with ice buildup around one-tenth of an inch.

The advisory covers central and northern Maryland, including Carroll, Baltimore, Montgomery, Howard, and Harford counties. Northern Virginia areas, including Loudoun and Prince William counties, will also be affected.

Roads will become slippery, especially during the transition to freezing rain. Drivers should reduce speed and use caution. The precipitation will change to rain late Saturday evening as temperatures rise.

Officials recommend checking local road conditions by calling 511. Stay updated with forecasts and prepare for icy sidewalks and untreated roads.
