New lives in New England: Adoptable dogs displaced by L.A. wildfires ready for second chances

Adoptable dogs that were displaced by the Los Angeles wildfires have found new leases on life over 3,000 miles away.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston posted on social media that their “West Coast pups” traveled 3,000 miles by plane and over 600 miles in a “Transport Waggin” and spent several days getting acclimated with their new surroundings, which include lots of snow.

“These L.A. transplants spend the last few days settling in, receiving medical and behavioral evaluations, and of course, enjoying our wonderful winter weather,” the Animal Rescue League of Boston said.

Each pooch was available for adoption in L.A. animal shelters before the wildfires broke out, the rescue agency stated, and they are available only for New England residents to adopt.

In a later social media post, Animal Rescue League of Boston officials said that two of the pets brought to Beantown — a pair of dogs named Patrick (since renamed Haku) and Olivia — have already been welcomed into new homes.
