Fort Wayne, IN – A winter weather advisory has been issued for portions of northern Indiana and northwest Ohio from 1 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday, with snow, sleet, and freezing rain expected to create hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall accumulations will range between 2 and 4 inches in areas including Pulaski, White, Cass, Miami, and Wabash counties. Freezing rain and sleet could lead to ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch. Further east, areas such as Allen, Huntington, and Adams counties in Indiana, along with portions of northwest Ohio, could see up to 2 inches of snow and similar ice accumulations.
Slippery roads and reduced visibility are expected to impact the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution. Road condition updates are available by dialing 511 in the affected states.
The wintry mix could lead to travel delays and hazardous conditions across the region. Residents should prepare for possible power outages and icy sidewalks. The storm is expected to taper off early Thursday morning, with improving conditions throughout the day.
