Albany, NY – Subzero temperatures are forecast for Albany and surrounding areas tonight, with wind chills making it feel even colder. Officials warn residents to bundle up and limit outdoor activity to avoid frostbite or hypothermia.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Albany, the minimum temperature will drop to -5°F, while wind chills could reach -15°F. Areas like Caroga Lake and Edinburg may see “feels-like” temperatures as low as -22°F. Prolonged exposure to these temperatures can cause severe harm.

Residents are advised to dress in layers, wear insulated outerwear, and cover exposed skin. The NWS also reminds residents to bring pets indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Those venturing out for the morning commute should plan for icy roads and freezing conditions.

Temperatures are expected to remain bitterly cold through Tuesday morning. If you suspect hypothermia or frostbite, seek medical attention immediately.

Stay indoors, conserve heat, and check on neighbors, especially the elderly. Prepare now to avoid being caught off guard by the cold.
