Arizona Weather: Showers Expected Sunday in Phoenix Along I-10 Corridor, Prepare for Wet Roads
Phoenix, AZ – Sunny skies will dominate the Valley today and Friday, but rain is on the horizon this weekend, potentially disrupting travel along I-10 and I-17. A slight chance of showers begins Sunday afternoon and increases into the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday’s high will reach 68°F, with calm winds in the morning becoming light by the afternoon, making it ideal for outdoor plans. However, conditions will shift by Sunday, when a 20% chance of rain begins after 11 a.m. Temperatures will remain mild, with a high near 68°F, but wet roads could lead to hazardous driving conditions.
By Sunday night, the chance of showers rises to 30%, with light winds from the southwest and a low near 43°F. Drivers are urged to stay cautious during evening commutes and prepare for slick roads.
Rainfall may continue into Monday, with a 40% chance of showers and a high near 66°F. The precipitation is expected to taper off by Tuesday, but another system could bring a 30% chance of rain. New rainfall amounts are forecasted to be less than a tenth of an inch, ensuring minimal flooding risks, but caution is still advised.
The sunny and mild weather earlier in the week makes this an excellent time to complete outdoor tasks or enjoy local parks before rain returns. Residents are encouraged to keep an umbrella handy and check forecasts for real-time updates.
For now, Phoenix remains mostly dry, with temperatures hovering in the mid-to-upper 60s through early next week.
