Arizona Winter Weather Alert: Heavy Snow and High Winds Until Midnight

Flagstaff, AZ – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until midnight MST Friday for the Chuska Mountains and Defiance Plateau, including Window Rock and Ganado.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, snowfall will continue through late evening, with elevations above 6,500 feet seeing the most accumulation. Winds could gust up to 40 mph, further reducing visibility.

Expected snowfall amounts:

Buffalo Pass10 to 15 inches

Window Rock1 to 2 inches

GanadoTrace to 1 inch

Travel Advisory: Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, are likely to become slick and hazardous. Drivers should expect dangerous conditions during both the morning and evening commutes.

Safety Tips:

• Avoid unnecessary travel.

• Reduce speed and allow extra distance between vehicles.

• Check az511.gov or call 511 for real-time road updates.

Conditions should begin to improve after midnight Saturday as snowfall tapers off.
