Armed woman in custody after threatening bus driver in Hollywood, police say

A woman is in custody after she allegedly threatened a bus driver with a firearm in a heavily tourist-centric area of Hollywood Boulevard on Saturday morning, police said.

The report came in at about 8:32 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A Metro spokesperson told KTLA that a Metro bus was traveling westbound on Hollywood Boulevard near North Orange Drive, across the street from the TCL Chinese Theatre, when a woman carrying luggage and threatened a bus operator.

The woman was believed to be armed with a handgun, police said.

The operator was able to escape the bus unharmed.

No other passengers were onboard at the time, Metro said. Authorities were able to take the woman into custody shortly after.

Images captured by KTLA photojournalists showed a heavy police presence on Hollywood Boulevard in the late morning of Saturday.

No additional details were immediately made available.
