Arrest made in deadly Southern California hit-and-run involving 2 vehicles

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – A 33-year-old man from North Hollywood surrendered himself to police in connection with a deadly hit-and-run late last week in which the victim was struck twice by two separate drivers, authorities announced.  

The tragic Jan. 24 incident occurred at around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection on Victory Boulevard just east of Troost Avenue in North Hollywood, police said in a community alert. 

The victim, only described as a 26-year-old Hispanic woman, was walking across the roadway when she was struck by a motorist in a sedan traveling westbound on Victory Boulevard.  

In the first collision, the woman was knocked to the ground and was on her hands and knees when she was struck and killed by a second motorist, now identified as Ryan Antonio Gomez Cifuentes, who was behind the wheel of a 2003 Toyota 4Runner. 

Neither of the motorists attempted to stop, identify themselves or render assistance to the victim at the time. 

Medical personnel with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and declared the 26-year-old dead.  

Officials with the Los Angeles Police Department said that at around 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 28, Cifuentes turned himself in at the department’s Valley Traffic Station where he was taken into custody for felony hit-and-run.  

The driver of the vehicle involved in the initial collision remains outstanding, police said.
