A medical professional linked to the Bay Area has been accused of drugging, assaulting, and clandestinely recording patients.
Authorities are now actively seeking additional individuals who may have fallen victim to these crimes.
Zhi Alan Cheng, aged 33, appeared in a New York courtroom on Monday to face 50 new charges. These charges encompass allegations of rape, sexual abuse, assault, possession of controlled substances, and unauthorized surveillance.
These accusations stem from Cheng’s interactions with six women, some of whom were his patients. However, legal representatives assert that there are recorded incidents involving at least six more unidentified women.
These incidents took place in hotels or residences located in New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Thailand.
During his time in the Bay Area, Cheng undertook his medical residency at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, an institution affiliated with the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.
