Binghamton, NY – Snow showers are expected to develop late Saturday night in the Binghamton area, with impacts likely to extend into Sunday. Local residents and travelers should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility during the overnight hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, lake-effect snow bands will form in portions of Central New York, primarily affecting areas west and northwest of the city. Temperatures will remain seasonably cold, with Saturday’s high reaching 25 degrees and an overnight low of 21 degrees. Winds will shift to the southwest, bringing a slight chance of snow after midnight and a 30% chance of accumulation by Sunday morning.

Sunday will see scattered snow showers persisting before tapering off in the early afternoon. High temperatures will rise slightly to 31 degrees, but gusty winds could cause blowing snow in open areas.

Looking ahead, the five-day forecast predicts a brief break in the snow on Monday, with sunny skies and a high near 33 degrees. However, another system is expected by Tuesday afternoon, bringing a 60% chance of snow showers to the region. Travel disruptions may intensify midweek.

Residents are advised to monitor updated forecasts and exercise caution when traveling, particularly along Interstate 81 and other regional highways prone to slick conditions.
