Hanford, CA – A series of storms will bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to Hanford and the surrounding areas this week, increasing the risk of flooding and travel disruptions. Rain is expected to intensify Tuesday night, with thunderstorms likely before dawn Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service, rainfall totals could exceed an inch in some areas, with thunderstorms bringing localized heavier amounts. Southeast winds will pick up Tuesday night, reaching gusts of 15 mph. Cooler temperatures will follow midweek, with highs in the low 60s and nighttime lows in the 40s.
Wednesday will see continued rain chances before tapering off by evening, but another storm system will move in Thursday, bringing more showers and possible thunderstorms. Rain chances peak at 90% Thursday night, with additional heavy precipitation expected.
Residents should prepare for possible flooding, especially in low-lying areas, and drive cautiously on wet roads. The heaviest rain is expected along Highway 198 and other major routes, potentially impacting morning and evening commutes.
