s northern coast woke up to freezing conditions Saturday, as frost blanketed much of Humboldt County. A cold weather advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m., with wind chills dipping as low as 25°F.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), frosty conditions will persist through the weekend, particularly in the early morning hours. Breezy weather is expected to follow, with gusts reaching 20 mph. Officials urge residents to dress warmly, secure outdoor belongings, and limit time outside, especially for older adults and children.
Sunday morning will bring another round of widespread frost with temperatures dropping to 32°F. By the afternoon, conditions will improve with sunny skies and highs near 53°F. Winds are forecast to remain breezy, making it feel cooler than the thermometer suggests. Drivers along US-101 are advised to watch for frost-covered roads during early hours.
Looking ahead, Monday marks the warmest day in the five-day forecast, with temperatures climbing to 55°F under sunny skies. Nights will remain chilly, with patchy frost expected as lows dip into the mid-30s. The rest of the week promises more sunshine, with highs reaching the mid-50s and nighttime frost continuing to affect the region.
To protect yourself, wear insulated clothing, check on vulnerable neighbors, and bring pets indoors overnight. Use caution while driving, and avoid leaving heaters or grills unattended when warming your home.
