Los Angeles, CA – Residents in Pacific Palisades and nearby areas were urged Friday to avoid drinking tap water. Officials issued a “Do Not Drink” advisory following fire-related contamination caused by heavy windstorm firefighting efforts.
According to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), contamination likely affected communities north of San Vicente Boulevard. Officials warned against cooking or drinking with tap water until further notice. LADWP established two distribution centers to provide bottled water to affected residents.
The centers, located at Westwood Recreation Center and Veteran’s Barrington Park, will operate daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. LADWP staff will distribute water and assist residents. For more information, call 1-800-DIAL-DWP.
Officials emphasized the advisory’s necessity to ensure public safety while contamination risks are investigated. This follows significant firefighting efforts that introduced contaminants into the water system.
The LADWP and Los Angeles Fire Department remind residents to follow safety guidelines when repopulating evacuated areas. Residents can check updates through local government social media channels.
