Sacramento, CA – High winds and cold temperatures are expected to persist across the Sacramento area through Tuesday morning, bringing potential safety hazards for residents and commuters. Gusty north-to-east winds will remain strong, posing risks for unsecured outdoor items and high-profile vehicles.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), winds will peak Monday night into early Tuesday, with gusts up to 16 mph. Residents are advised to secure tents, patio furniture, and other loose outdoor items to avoid damage or injuries. Motorists driving on exposed roadways, including I-5 and Highway 50, should take extra caution due to increased wind-related instability.

Temperatures are expected to drop overnight Monday, with lows reaching 36 degrees, leading to areas of frost early Tuesday. The daytime will bring sunshine, with highs reaching 58 degrees. Frost and patchy freezing conditions may return Tuesday night as temperatures drop again, making it essential for residents to protect sensitive plants and outdoor pets.

The week ahead will remain chilly, with frost possible Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Sunny skies are forecast through Sunday, with daytime highs in the mid-50s and lows consistently dipping into the 30s.

NWS recommends avoiding outdoor recreation during peak winds and staying vigilant for downed tree limbs or power lines. Take steps to protect property and ensure safety, especially during morning commutes.
