Lincoln, IL – Residents of central Illinois can expect a mild start to the week, with temperatures climbing into the 40s and near 50 degrees, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Lincoln.

The warming trend begins Monday with highs ranging from 40 to 45 degrees, accompanied by strong southwest winds gusting 30-45 mph. Gusty conditions are expected to persist throughout the day, making it breezy but relatively mild for late January.

According to the NWS, temperatures will remain steady between 45-50 degrees Tuesday through Thursday. Winds will taper slightly during midweek, but moderate gusts between 25-40 mph will remain consistent. The next chance for precipitation is forecast later in the week, though details remain uncertain.

These warmer temperatures provide a welcome respite from the recent chill, with overnight lows still dipping into the teens to low 20s. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items that could be affected by the strong winds Monday.
