Austin, TX – Light rain showers will persist through Wednesday afternoon, primarily along and east of Interstate 35. Highs today will remain in the mid-50s to low 60s, but a dramatic shift is coming this weekend. Residents should prepare for freezing overnight temperatures as a cold front pushes through the area Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a warm-up is expected Thursday and Friday, with highs reaching 65°F and 67°F, respectively, under partly cloudy skies. Winds will remain calm for most of the week, but gusts of up to 25 mph could accompany the incoming cold front.

Looking ahead, Saturday brings clear, sunny skies with highs around 62°F, but overnight lows will plunge to 30°F. The cold snap will intensify Sunday, with daytime highs only reaching the mid-40s and freezing temperatures continuing into Monday morning.

Drivers should remain cautious on wet roads today, especially during the morning commute, as light showers create slick conditions. For those traveling on I-35 or planning outdoor activities, monitor updates closely.

The region will see minimal weather impacts Thursday and Friday, making it an ideal time to prepare for colder days ahead. Bundle up over the weekend, especially for early morning errands or outdoor plans, and check on vulnerable neighbors or pets during freezing nights.
