Heavy rain is expected to develop Friday morning and persist into the afternoon, raising concerns about flooding. Rainfall totals of around half an inch are likely, with some areas seeing 1-1.5 inches.
According to the National Weather Service, rain falling on frozen soil could lead to flooding in low-lying areas and cause rivers to rise. The heaviest rainfall is expected between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, particularly in areas near I-88 and I-80. The exact location of the heaviest rain remains uncertain.
Showers will taper off by Friday evening, followed by mild weekend temperatures. Highs will reach the upper 30s to low 40s on Saturday, with Sunday bringing near-record warmth in the mid-50s.
Residents should stay alert for potential flooding and monitor updates from the National Weather Service. Localized flooding may impact roads and travel, especially in flood-prone areas.
