Chicago, IL – Snowfall is expected primarily north of Interstate 80 on Wednesday, with residents urged to prepare for slippery travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, areas north of I-80 have a 20-50% chance of snow on Wednesday, with accumulations up to an inch possible by the evening. Temperatures will remain frigid, ranging from a high of 22-26°F to lows between 10-18°F. Wind chills will make it feel as cold as -10°F to -20°F Wednesday morning.

The cold weather increases risks for localized ice jams and rapid river rises. Drivers in the region should plan for potentially hazardous roads, especially during the evening commute. Lingering lake-effect snow could also impact parts of northwest Indiana late Wednesday and into Thursday.

The National Weather Service advises residents to dress warmly, limit outdoor exposure, and monitor weather updates for changing conditions. Snow is expected to clear by Thursday, but cold temperatures will persist throughout the week.
