Sacramento, CA – A freeze warning remains in effect for much of Northern California, with temperatures expected to drop as low as 30°F overnight. The warning, issued by the National Weather Service, will be in place from 10 p.m. Monday until 7 a.m. Tuesday.
According to the NWS, the affected areas include the Northern and Central Sacramento Valley, the Northern San Joaquin Valley, Carquinez Strait and Delta, and foothill regions. Cities such as Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto, Chico, and Redding should prepare for sub-freezing conditions.
The cold temperatures pose a risk to crops, sensitive vegetation, and unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to cover plants, bring pets indoors, and insulate exposed pipes to prevent freezing damage.
This freeze warning follows a stretch of unseasonably cool weather in the region. The National Weather Service advises staying updated on local forecasts, as additional cold fronts could develop later in the week.
For those traveling early Tuesday morning, icy road conditions may be a concern, particularly in rural and shaded areas. Motorists should use caution and allow extra time for their commutes.
