Eureka, CA – Freezing wind chills and heavy rain are set to impact Humboldt County this week, bringing travel hazards and potential flooding. Residents should prepare for cold temperatures early Wednesday, followed by persistent rain through Friday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday, with wind chills as low as 27 degrees. Frostbite and hypothermia risks are high for those without proper protection. Residents should dress warmly, check on vulnerable individuals, and avoid using generators indoors.

By Tuesday night, rain is expected to intensify, with 70% precipitation chances, increasing to 90% Wednesday. Winds will pick up, with gusts reaching 21 mph. Roads may become slick, and drivers should allow extra travel time.

Thursday and Friday will see continued heavy rainfall, with chances nearing 100% Thursday night. Localized flooding may occur, especially in low-lying areas. The NWS advises securing outdoor items and staying alert for updates.

Residents should monitor forecasts and prepare for changing conditions. Warmer temperatures return over the weekend, but wet conditions will persist.
