Corpus Christi, TX – Coastal Texas residents are waking up to freezing temperatures Wednesday morning as a freeze warning remains in effect until 11 a.m. The National Weather Service also issued a cold weather advisory until 9 a.m., citing wind chill values as low as 15 degrees. Residents are urged to take immediate precautions to protect themselves, pets, and property.
According to the National Weather Service, subfreezing temperatures as low as 21 degrees will affect areas including Corpus Christi, Rockport, Port Lavaca, and other coastal regions. These conditions can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure and pose risks to crops, outdoor vegetation, and unprotected plumbing. Residents are encouraged to insulate exposed pipes, bring pets indoors, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
Thursday will begin cold again, with lows in the upper 20s and highs only reaching the mid-50s under clear skies. By Friday, temperatures are expected to rise slightly, with highs in the low 60s and overnight lows in the 40s. However, another dip into the 30s is forecasted for Saturday, making it critical for residents to remain vigilant throughout the week.
The extended forecast for Corpus Christi shows a gradual warming trend by Sunday, with highs reaching the mid-60s and milder conditions returning early next week. Despite this, officials urge continued caution, particularly for drivers on icy or frost-covered roads.
Be sure to follow weather updates closely and prepare for changing conditions. Avoid using outdoor heaters or grills indoors to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. For road safety, drive cautiously and allow extra time for travel during frosty mornings.
