Portland, OR — A cold weather advisory is in effect for Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington, with sub-freezing temperatures expected overnight. The advisory remains in place from 10 p.m. Tuesday until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, temperatures are forecasted to drop below 30 degrees across much of the region, with apparent temperatures feeling closer to 25°F in many areas. Affected locations include the central and southern Willamette Valley, the Interstate 5 corridor of Southwest Washington, the Cascade foothills, the Coast Range, and the Willapa Hills.

Residents are urged to dress warmly, ensuring exposed skin is covered to prevent cold-related injuries. Pet owners are reminded to keep animals indoors during the advisory period.

The advisory highlights the need to stay indoors whenever possible and take precautions against frostbite. Local officials recommend checking on vulnerable populations, including the elderly and those without adequate heating.

Temperatures are expected to moderate slightly by mid-morning Wednesday, though colder-than-usual conditions could persist in higher elevations. For additional updates, visit the National Weather Service website or tune in to local weather advisories.
