Leadville, CO – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of central and southern Colorado until 5 p.m. MST Saturday, with additional snow and strong winds expected to create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, up to 3 inches of additional snowfall is expected in areas including Leadville, St. Elmo, La Veta Pass, and Weston. Wind gusts could reach up to 40 mph, leading to blowing snow and reduced visibility, especially in higher elevations.

Drivers should prepare for slippery roads, particularly in the Western Mosquito Range, East Lake County, and the Northern and Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Authorities recommend slowing down and using caution while traveling.

The winter storm is expected to ease by Saturday evening, but road conditions may remain hazardous into Sunday morning. For up-to-date road conditions, travelers can call 511 or visit the Colorado Department of Transportation website.
